drug test

last night, my brother gave my mom a note from school. the school is going to perform a drug-test to all its highschool students, just like what they did last year. my brother is in junior now, so that means, last year when he was srtill in 2nd year high, he had that kind of test. he confirmed that he had one last year. of course, there's no positive substance found in his body.

but i was just shocked to learn that they're performing this kind of test now to highschool students. i just encountered that when i was already applying for work. is drugs really that widely used that even kids use it? i'm just shocked to hear that kids of my brother's age use drugs, get someone pregnant, etc. maybe because i still see my brother as a little boy even if he's already 16 years old. could it be because i'm 10 years older than him?

hey, little boy? hehehe. Well, i guess most older siblings do see the younger ones as always the "baby" of the house. One of my closest friend got his gf pregnant while he was 15.

16+ 10... Hmmm... Marrying age ka na pala tin. Wala pa bang nagpo-propose? Don't tell me no, since I'm kinda finding that impossible. :)

if it's other people, parang hindi na baby. but when it comes to my borther and his childhood playmates, they would all look like a baby to me. hehehe.

galing sa math ha! wala pa rin. nothing is impossible diba? ;p

i guess things really just have changed over the years Tin. it's so much different before than it is now - it was so much safer, more innocent.

tin-tin said...

so true vina. how much more when it's the time of our kids?

advance na kasi ang pag-aaral ng mga bata, advance na rin siguro mga activities nila... lahat advance pati drug tests, hehehe

Uhmmnnn I won't divulge the time when I was still in high school :) mahalata mo pa age ko lol! ...but I wanna tell you that that time .... even a first year high school kids were using drugs already ... not only in public schools.. mas malala pa nga sa mga exclusives schools e , I remember one time in a school fair somewhere in Taft basta sikat siya nagkalat ang balat ng tablets na ginamit nila sa CR ng school. What more now?

is that legal? to have everyone undergo a drug test? buti na lang di na ako hayskul.

tin-tin said...

cruise: sobrang advance nga. hehe. mukhang enjoy talaga trip mo ha. chedeng's peanuts lang. hahaha

melai: grabe ha! bakit nung highschool ako, i studied in an exclusive school, pero hindi ganun. siguro nung college na.. pero highschool, i know wala talaga

tin-tin said...

duke: siguro duke legal sya. kse part of the school's curriculum :)

Iba na nga siguro ngayon, kita mo yung mga rugby boys sa Recto? Ang babata nila di ba?

di ko nakikita ann.. pero i have an idea. hehehe :)

Love the pop up ads here :P
Yes children do drugs. In my school ten years were dealers. Sad truth in a modern world...

duke said...

you will be surprised with what kids are capable of doing these days. I think it is good that drug tests are now being conducted even in HS. The thing is, drug tests normally involves urine samples and it'e easy to fake them.

I hope their is a strict policy on it :D

It's good your bro's schoool has drug-tests for their studes... usually in the adolescent stage, teenagers like to experiment and play around...plus the peer pressure. I had classmates in H.S. who used to hangout after class and do drugs.

tin-tin said...

qalballah: a really sad truth

duke: i don't know if they has a strict policy on it. but my brother told me that they were just asked to pee and that's it

carey: wow! so that means mababait pa pala classmates ko nung highschool. hehehe

Well a drug test for high school students is a lot more sensible than the required drug test before you can renew your drivers license. Now that's what I call stupid...

Anonymous said...

well, face it tin. its the sad truth.

there's more to this world now than the happy-go-lucky days before the age of exploration. things are a lot absurd.

maibang topic ng konti. just saw your comment in the "about me" portion -- "God created me beautiful coz i'm from His image". nice phrase. I believe in God. But I had doubts in the accuracy of Genesis. :-) Was there really an Adam and Eve?

tin-tin said...

snglguy: easy lang. tumataas na naman presyon mo ;p

sc: it's just that they have a different way now of having fun. sad... i guess there is an Adam and Eve. sc, i think it's going to be a long discussion. hehehe :)

I wonder how many people fail the drug test in your brother's school... and in other high schools in the Philippines for that matter.

tin-tin said...

i'll ask my brother about it. but the letter assured the parents that it will be in full confidentiality. but i hope none or not much :)

j said...

and I thought they only do random drug testing in employees...

Gayzha said...

my reaction is the same. so kakatakut naman pala ngayon...but then you really don't have to be afraid if you are not taking drugs... but then, just the thought that hs kids are being tested is a deterrent, what do you think!

tin-tin said...

jairam: i also thought it's only for employment

jase: but if almost everyone in your environment is doing it, there's a big chance that you'll get pressured to do it also. and teen years are the most easy to convince age :)

hi tin! yeah, I guess its a long discussion. But i've always thought on one single line ever since. I believe in God, that he is a merciful, compassionate, fair, and a very intelligent God, I just can't get it -- why He would throw all of humanity out of paradise just because of two idiots named Adam and Eve.

Have a nice day tin. :-)

it's just weird no. nung highschool ako ang sina-subject sa drug test yung mga suspects sa petty and not-so-petty crimes, basta mga dlinkwente sa lipunan. ngayon studyante na? kakalungkot.

Anonymous said...

It's kind of weird but my half brother started using drugs when he was around 12 - 13 actually

Anonymous said...

Hmm.. weird. Hindi pa ako nag-take ng drug test. LOL. As if naman na may tinatago ako.. LOL.

Hi! tin-tin,yes it is one thing I want to blog about, troubled teens are resorting to drugs, drug use on brain facts.nice posting

tin-tin said...

sc: maybe to have a history. hehe. if you'll notice the God that was described in the old testament is way different from the Gos described in the new testament. and that's the price adam and eve paid for their wrong use of free will. we are their children kasi, kaya nadamay tayo. tama ba? hehehe ;p

mei: kalungkot nga. at katakot..

tin-tin said...

charles: really? and what/who influenced him?

jhed: ako nag-take na. required sa medical check-up ng company. hehehe

zingtrial: honestly, until now i don't know anyone who's still in highschool that is using drugs :)

p said...

well its sad that they do. kids today wanna grow up faster.. they forget that there's alot more to discover than sex and drugs. oh well..

Anonymous said...

Hmmm... asked my brother if he already had this 'drug test', too.

Jante replied, "Nagtitipid daw ang PCU. gastos lang daw."

Brrr...

tin-tin said...

kuazee: you said it right

asiatic: siguro kung sobrang laganap na nga sya, i think hidni na sya dapat pagtipiran

yuri said...

ur 25? lol well what to do.. kids tese days. drgs is never the solution my gosh...

tin-tin said...

yuri.. yup, i'm 25. miss na kita! hope you're okay na. basta don't resort to drugs ha :)

kids are growingup fast these days...

well he befriended some guys at school who turned about to be his bad influence. But now he cleans up his act and studying hard or else he cannot travel to the US as my stepmom threatened him that

tin-tin said...

neko: true :)

charles: at least he realized that it's wrong and is doing something about it :)

The King said...

haha! sad but true, high school kids these days are capable of far more things than what we can imagine or what we were capable of during our time..

Tani said...

hi tin-tin.
it's not legal. may waiver ba students sa school ng bro mo to undergo drug testing annually? i think pinagkakakitaan nila mga highschool students sa drug testing na yan.

Anonymous said...

yeah that is actually quite a relief

tin-tin said...

rex: parang ang tanda mo na ha. hehehe

tani: i think it's already part of the miscellaneous fee. coz the letter is just informing the parents and not asking anymore for a payment

charles: good for him and your family :)

I always believe that health issues is between the patient and his/her doctor and no other. Unless the job requires the absence of impairment subtance like illegal drugs any testing done is a violation of privacy and only with the consent of the patient and the guardian in cases of a minor.
